This makes me wonder if we are just living through a temporary, pre-revenue phase of agentic real estate. Right now, labs are heavily subsidizing token costs to drive developer habituation. Because they *need* these tools to work perfectly on the first try to prove the paradigm, defaults are purely meritocratic—based on agent-discoverability and MCP integrations.

But what happens when autonomous workflows become a sticky enterprise habit?

It feels inevitable that the labs will flip the switch from subsidizing adoption to monetizing their kingmaking power. Will the "subsidized token" era quietly give way to a marketplace tax on the infrastructure agents spin up, or premium "pay-to-play" tiers where vendors have to buy their way into the routing weights? The current era of free discoverability might just be the customer acquisition cost for the platforms themselves.
